Diagnose: Mapping the Capacity Gap

Why the first session has no slides — and why that is exactly the point.

  • 01Skepticism toward AI rarely means an organization is behind. It usually means no one has shown up and listened before pitching.
  • 02A built proof-of-concept and a primary-research point of view are the same signal: we took what you said seriously enough to build something.
  • 03The whole goal of Phase 01 is one moment — the exhale, when the client realizes their biggest fear was just disproven in real time.

What actually happens in the first session

We talk about your business, your goals for it, your own professional development, and the priorities behind the work in front of you. The first conversation is deliberately quiet — no diagrams, no slides, no hard-hitting discovery questionnaire. We see ourselves as a friend and a partner before an operator. Because AI now does the heavy lifting, we spend the opening session building trust: making sure you know you are dealing with people who care about the mission as much as you do.

This matters because most clients are not skeptical because they are behind. They are skeptical because nobody has shown up and actually listened to what they are worried about before pitching a solution. 1 Among the smallest businesses, 82% believe AI simply is not applicable to their operation — so when you later demo something built specifically around their pain point, the exhale makes complete sense. You have disproven their biggest fear in real time.

What shifts in session two

Once a pain point is recognized and an idea forms around how to address it, the transition usually arrives as a company-invested proof-of-concept: we demo an agentic workflow or agent built to address that exact pain point. If an investable pain point has not surfaced yet, we focus instead on a report that answers the hard questions you raised — proof that we were listening.

Say you ask about data privacy in the first conversation. The team takes time to do the appropriate research and develop a point of view grounded in primary sources — library databases and the Bloomberg terminal — so every claim sits on factual ground. We are not pitching. We are proving we listened. The proof-of-concept and the research-backed point of view are two forms of the same signal: we took what you said seriously enough to build something.

We took what you said seriously enough to build something.

2 Seventy percent of small businesses cite data and privacy concerns as a roadblock, and 62% say a lack of understanding about AI’s benefits is a barrier. So when we arrive with a point of view that directly addresses what you raised in session one, it is not a sales move. It is a trust move.

What we are looking for from you

We are looking for a sign of relief — the moment a client is excited to demo the platform if it is a proof-of-concept, or eager to keep the conversation going if it is a point of view. That readiness is the real output of Phase 01.

Deliverable: the Reinvention Roadmap — a shared map of your workflows, the bottlenecks worth attacking first, and the agentic path through them.
